STORY OF TRANSPORTATION:-
In ancient time people did not have any means of transport. They used to move only on foot. They used carry goods either on their back
or using animals.
Bullock carts were the major means of transportation on land in ancient time. The basic bullock cart is similar to the ones still used in India today. In bullock cart a pair of animals tied to a central yoke provided the power to draw the cart. Carts were made of wood, and a copper specimen has also been found.
However by the 5th century BC a more advanced system of roads with bridges, crossways and four-road junctions was developed.
For transport along water routes, boats were used. To begin with, boats were simple logs of wood in which a hollow cavity could be made. Later, people learnt to put together different pieces of wood and give shapes to the boats. These shapes Later came automobiles. Motorised boats and ships were used as means of transport
on water. The bicycle was invented in the late 18th century bicycles.
The early years of 1900 century saw the development of aeroplanes. These were later improved to carry passengers and goods. Then Electric trains, monorail, supersonic aeroplanes and spacecraft are some of the 20th century contributions.
