The Science Branch of Education, Delhi conducts Junior Science Talent Search Examination or JSTSE every year. The exam takes place in the month of January for the students of recognized schools of Delhi.
Any student of recognized school studying in Class IX in Govt./Govt. Aided / Public / KV / Navodaya / NDMC and must have secured 65% marks in class VIII can appear for Junior Science Talent Search Examination (JSTSE).
Out of total 18 thousand applicants top 150 applicants are screened for the final scholarship. Screening involves a 200 minute pen paper test consisting of 200 multiple choice questions from the domain of GK, Science and Maths.
Exam pattern and syllabus-
The JSTSE is divided into 2 sections; 1) General Knowledge 2) General Science and Mathematics
The general knowledge section has 50 questions and needs to answered in 50 minutes. All the questions have equal weightage of 1 mark each.
The questions in the GK sections are based on Civics, Economics, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The section also contains questions on National Parks, Sanctuaries, Government Schemes, Gallantry Awards, Bollywood and Cricket.
The 2nd part has 150 questions which needs to answered in 150minutes and counts to 1 mark each. This section checks the concepts of std. 8th and 9th, Mathematics and General Science (Physics, Biology and Chemistry).
FEES AND ELIGIBILITY
Any student of recognized school studying in Class IX in Govt./Govt Aided/Public/KV/Navodaya/NDMC and must have secured 65% marks in class VIII is eligible for the exam. The exam is free of cost for all the eligible student.
Application procedure
Students can apply for JSTSE only through their respective schools, and there is no procedure for applying individually.
